Understanding Medicare
Medicare is a federal health insurance program for individuals aged 65 and older, as well as certain younger individuals with disabilities.
Part A — Hospital
Covers hospital insurance including inpatient care, skilled nursing facilities, hospice, and some home health care.
Part B — Medical
Covers medical insurance including doctor visits, outpatient care, preventive services, and medical supplies.
Part C — Advantage
Medicare Part C (also known as Medicare Advantage) is offered by private insurance companies and combines Part A and Part B coverage. Many plans also include Part D for prescription drugs and offer additional benefits such as dental, vision, and hearing.
Part D — Drug Coverage
Medicare Part D provides prescription drug coverage, helping reduce the cost of medications.
Medigap (Medicare Supplement Insurance)
Medigap is offered by private insurance companies and helps cover out-of-pocket costs not included in Original Medicare, such as deductibles, copayments, and coinsurance.
